September 2006 The end is in sight for the Project as the final sections of the works are nearing completion. By the end of October we expect to have completed all the surfacing through the entire route including the Northern Junction. The majority of the structures are now complete, with the exception of Smitham Station Footbridge. The lift towers, which have been visible for some time are nearing completion and the footbridge itself will be installed during a rail possession on 12th November. Finishing works such as brickwork, railings and parapets are ongoing, but will be complete in conjunction with the final works at the Northern Junction to allow the rod to be opened in December |
