NOISE MONITORING IN YOUR AREA
As part of our commitment to the community we will be undertaking Noise Monitoring in your area in conjunction with Transport for London and Atkins Consultants.
This will involve installing a small microphone type machine on a pole, approximately 1.5m in height within the grounds of your property. The microphone needs to be in place for up to 3 days continuously. This enables us to monitor existing background noise initially.
When major construction work commences the noise levels will be monitored on an ad-hoc basis for up to half an hour at a time with a hand held microphone.
SOURCES OF NOISE
Plant machinery, loading and unloading of material, piling operations, earthworks, generators, compressors, cutting tools, etc.
WAYS TO REDUCE CONSTRUCTION NOISE
Provide screens around work areas.
Locate machinery and plant away from houses and buildings
Turn machinery off when not in use.
Use silencing equipment on machinery
Take into account wind direction
When unloading, use soft surfaces where possible to reduce noise (e.g. on soil not concrete)
